Online Grooming
The process by which an adult builds a relationship of trust with a child through digital platforms with the intention of sexual exploitation or abuse.
Online grooming is a deliberate process where predators befriend children through social media, gaming platforms, or messaging apps, gradually building trust before exploiting them. Groomers often pose as peers, shower targets with attention and gifts, encourage secrecy from parents, and progressively push boundaries. Malaysia's Online Safety Act 2025 specifically addresses this threat.
