Parental Controls
Software features and settings that allow parents to manage and monitor their children's online activities, including content filtering, screen time limits, and app restrictions.
Parental controls are tools built into devices, operating systems, and apps that help parents manage what their children can access online. They can filter inappropriate content, limit screen time, restrict app installations, monitor browsing history, and control in-app purchases. While no tool replaces open parent-child communication, parental controls provide a practical safety net.
Where to Start
Most devices already include free parental controls. Use Apple Screen Time (iPhone/iPad), Google Family Link (Android), and Microsoft Family Safety (Windows/Xbox). For home internet filtering, enable the parental controls on your router or use a family-safe DNS like CleanBrowsing or OpenDNS Family Shield.
